Friends call me Michelle. Or Mich. Or whatever nickname you give someone who falls asleep to true crime, can recite the Jet2 Holiday ad by heart, and has 71 campaign ideas open in separate tabs.
I'm a Malaysian-born creative with roots stretching across Hong Kong, Thailand, and Mongolia—raised in a family of finance bros who still aren't quite sure what I do for a living.
I’m chronically online and constantly thinking, usually about copy, occasionally about psychological thrillers, and always about what makes people feel something. Having survived revival meetings and rejection emails, I learned early how to turn tension into storytelling.
I once looped Chinese breakup songs just to find the right emotional temperature for a pitch. Mailed a job application the old-school way because LinkedIn felt too… beige. Tried to sell water to fish, not literally, but close, just to see if I could make the obvious sound strangely irresistible.
Right now, I write. For brands. For briefs. For belief systems in flux. I zag where others zig, or at least ask: why are we all zigging again?
Currently open to copy-based creative roles—and to swapping stories, TikTok memes, or your hot take on em dashes.

What the people are saying
All the qualities you'd want in a creative, Michelle has in spades.
In the hustle of a tech startup - an environment that demands both high quality and quantity output, Michelle established herself as a model citizen by consistently managing multiple projects while smoothly coordinating across departments.
She's also fun to work with.
Always down to collaborate. Always down to offer her hand even if beyond her primary duties. Michelle has the makings of an admirable leader.
— Joonmo Yang (Creative Director at BorderX)
If you’re considering Michelle for a role at your company, I can say without any doubt that she will become an asset to your team.
There will be candidates who will have the technical skill and talent, and there will be candidates who possess that necessary prowess and in addition to that have the harder-to-quantify soft skills that allow them to provide immeasurable value to the team. Michelle Chen is the latter. There is “work” and there is “the way you work”, and in both these aspects, Michelle shines.
— Bym Buhain (Assoc. Creative Director at CLYNDR)
Michelle is one of the most efficient and hardworking creatives that I've worked with.
She makes difficult tasks seem so easy.
She is very collaborative and never hesitates to help other team members.
She's a team player, the kind of teammate that you always wish she'd be on your team when a project comes in because you know she won't let you down. I cannot stress further how reliable she is.
Her enthusiasm for work is contagious and makes you give your best as well.
She's a go-getter and she's truly a great asset to the team.
— Mark Ngo (Senior Art Director at DDB Optimax)
